Job Summary
The Medicaid & Commercial Insurance Biller is responsible for the detailed reconciliation of service records for behavioral health billing, preparing accurate invoices for behavioral health services, reconciling payments to agency invoices and units of service, coordinating with the program and QA staff regarding disputed services, and assisting with annual county contract reporting. We are looking for a healthcare accounts receivable professional with experience using electronic health records, and working with North Carolina Medicaid, DSS, and/or County Funds. Also, a strong candidate well-versed in Commercial Insurance billing systems and Provider/Practitioner Credentialing and/or Enrollment is highly preferred.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Extracts units of service and billing information from respective EMR/EHR system(s). Prepares monthly behavioral health billings according to contract requirements and limits. Inputs all behavioral health billings and adjustments into the accounting system and payer systems, as applicable.
- Reconciles all behavioral health payments received.
- Processes write-offs and maintains records for over-payments and refunds due counties. Follows up with referring agencies to ensure amounts are received in a timely manner. Maintains fiscal year spreadsheets for all contracts with units of service detail Assists with the preparation of annual cost reports for all mental health contracts.
- Maintains variance to budget data for units of service and billings.
- Assists with budget and re-forecast processes.
- Enters journal entries and assists with audit preparation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred. High School education is acceptable for candidates who demonstrate extensive applicable experience. Three to five years of relevant Credentialing and A/R experience preferred. Relevant mental health, human resource generalist, or medical/contract/ billing experience is preferred. A/R experience in a multi-program or multi-entity environment, is preferred. Experience in for-profit business office environment, and/or social services agency is preferred.
